Dear Students and Parents,
Greetings from Mr. Yates
As the new Head Director of Big Red, I would like to say how honored I am to come back home to Big Red. Our show this year promises to be very exciting and fun. Camp is just around the corner. Please make sure to write all dates down. In this letter you will find the answers to alot of questions. Please contact me or any of the staff if you have any questions.
Music The show music may be picked up from the high school band hall on tuesday july 13th.
Freshmen Let us be the first to welcome you to “Big Red.” This band will become your extended family and hopefully your venue to maximize your musical talent.
Below is a list of financial responsibilities for each band member. Please read over what fees are owed and be aware of what your child will owe. Note that not all fees are applicable to all students. All fees are due at the end of band camp. No one will attend any performances until all fees are paid. Fund Raising Opportunity
We will have a donut sale during band camp. All profits your child makes over $25 can be applied to the fees above.

Fair share covers additional expenses to cover the fall marching season not covered by the school budget. Items such as a member T-shirt, cost of chartered buses, and band camp supplies are covered by this.

Band Camp Band camp is a requirement for all “Big Red” band members. In order to participate in the fall marching show, you must attend all activities of band camp, as we will be learning the entire drill during this time.
No one will be guaranteed a spot in the show if they miss any part of band camp!
All camps are held at the high school
Dates
July 19th-30th Monday through friday. 8am till 5pm. Lunch will be from 11:30 till 1. Student are on their own for lunch. Students will be allowed to leave during lunch.
Black Band Shoes All students are required to have a pair of black band shoes for use with the uniform. Since all the shoes must be exactly alike only those shoes purchased through the band staff will be worn with the uniform. If you are a returning member and you still have your shoes from last year, you do not need to purchase new ones. All freshmen need to purchase band shoes. The cost of the shoes is $32 (cash, money order, visa, mastercard, american express). The shoe representative will be here to fit the students during camp. I will post the date on the website. Money will be due that morning. We cannot accept checks for shoes.
Band Pants All returning band members have purchased a pair of machine washable band pants.
All freshmen are required to buy these pants. We will fit the students who need pants the same day we fit for shoes.
Wrap Up Band camp is a very important part of our year. It is the only time we can rehearse everyone at the same time. During the school year we always have conflicts with rehearsal. Attendance at band camp is mandatory. Missing of multiple days or an entire week will not be permitted unless a dire family emergency arises. Unexcused absences from band rehearsal will result in dismissal from the band. In order to be a member of Big Red, all students must make the commitment to attend all rehearsals. School related conflicts, such as football or cheerleading, will be handled by the band staff and the respective coach or sponsor. Any students who have health problems which will not permit them to march outside in the summer need to notify the directors immediately so that their spot can be filled. All members are expected to march at all rehearsals.
It looks like we should have a very strong and competitive year. We are looking forward to getting started! GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
